I have a 2000 civic and im planning on upgrading the suspension for spring/summer and also this winter completely killed my current setup. Im just wondering what brand of shocks/struts has the best bang for the buck. Im gonna be matching them with h&r springs (2.5" drop, pretty stiff i guess). I'm not really wanting to spend anything over 400..
ive been looking at skunk2 shocks, but a bunch of reviews say they arent worth it..opinions??

I have h&r springs with a 2 inch drop on my eg with tokico blue struts and I like the quality of the ride. I daily drive the car and they've lasted a few years now. If my answer helps. I've heard so many mixed reviews with skunk2 stuff I don't know what to think but like Scott said the times have changed.

skunk 2 struts have blown on me before, they need to be paired properly, you could get a really nice ride with eibach or rsr sport springs and rock like kyb gr2 or agx struts to be cheap, I would try those springs on the koni red. the springs are progressive vs linear so they don't blow your shit up, I had them on the car when I bought them the springs rsr sport oem struts, I ran them for a year at least before choosing my setup and they didnt blow even after a winter

id step up to coilovers personally. the function and form type ones are cheap and ride not much worse than a stock em1 imo.

Just save a little more and pay for koni yellows. I've owned almost everything and nothing even compares.
